At Connect Church we believe we are called to connect people to Christ, community and purpose. There are few things that accomplish that mission as much as serving together! So on July 27, 2025 we will set aside our usual Sunday morning worship service to simply serve our community in Jesus name. Beginning at 9:00am we will mobilize the entire church body to serve our local community through various service projects. 

IF YOU HAVE KIDS:


• We WILL still be having Kids Ministry!


• You MUST sign them up under the "Child Care" Registration!


• We need to know how many kids we will have, and what they want to eat!


• Once you sign them up under Child Care, you can choose their t-shirt size and their lunch!

From 12:30pm to 1:30pm we will have a boxed lunch available for everyone who is serving in the Multi-Purpose Center.

Then from 1:30pm to 2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center with music and testimonies so we can celebrate all that God did that morning. 

Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Jesus commanded us to take care of “home” first and we believe there is a mission field in our backyard. That is what this is all about. 

Below you will find the list of service projects that we have lined up for that day and the number of volunteer spots that are available for each project. Project sign-ups will begin May 25, 2025!

Remember, you are never more like Jesus than when you are serving!

Beginning at 9:00am, we will be helping ASPIES (an Akron based Autism support group) by supplying and prepping for Christmas with notes of encouragement, coloring pictures, and making cards or table placemats to distribute to local DD group homes, extended care facilities, and day programs. ANYONE, ANY AGE can participate!



ASPIES helps those with developmental disabilities in 7 counties – Summit, Portage, Stark, Tuscarawas, Wayne, Medina, and Cuyahoga.



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.

School supplies will be provided by the congregation and the kids attending Camp Connect VBS. Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be putting together backpacks for First Glance in Kenmore, to give away to the kids in their community.



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.
 


Beginning at 9:00am, multiple teams will be going to help First Glance. First Glance is a youth center that operates in the Kenmore neighborhood of Akron that we support. We will be cleaning the whole building and doing some maintenance, cleaning the skate park and moving stuff up and down stairs, and cleaning their vans.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, a team will be going to Grace Park for homeless outreach in the area. We will be providing them with bagged lunches (preparing them at the church before going to the park), passing out Bibles, and praying with anyone who needs it! You MUST be 16 years or older to serve on this project.



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.

Beginning at 9:00am, multiple teams will be going to help the Haven of Rest by splitting into three teams, with 8-9 people per team. We will be deep cleaning their dormitories, dining room, stairways, and lobby. If all three projects get finished early, we will be helping with other projects throughout Haven of Rest as needed. You MUST be 16 years or older to serve on this project. 



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be working alongside Habitat for Humanity, doing some light yard work and landscaping. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a non-profit transitional housing program for local homeless and migrants where we can be a blessing. We will be trimming trees/shrubs, mowing, power washing the home, painting of stairway walls (three floors), and cleaning up the community flower bed.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be trimming trees/shrubs, mulching, and weeding the yard.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.

Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be cleaning up the yard/flowerbed, mowing, mulching, and painting the back deck and foundation. 



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be doing yard clean up, trimming trees/shrubs, mowing, mulching, power washing the home, cleaning the windows, and cleaning a plexiglass enclosure to wheelchair lift (that is an add-on to the home).

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.

Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be mowing, mulching, cleaning up the yard/flower bed, and painting the garage, door, and window trim.



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be trimming trees/shrubs, mulching, mowing, cleaning up the yard/flower bed, planting flowers, cleaning the gutter, power washing the house/property, and potentially painting.



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be trimming around the fence, weed eating, and power washing the house.

Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be working alongside Habitat for Humanity, doing some light yard work and landscaping. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, this team will be helping a local home near our church building where we can be a blessing. We will be painting the house and garage.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


We will need people to stay behind and watch the kids who are too young to go out and serve. This allows their parents the opportunity to serve their community, without the stress of having to worry about who will watch their kids! You will be watching children ages Nursery through 5th grade. You MUST be 18 years or older, KidSafe approved, and undergo a background check by the church.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, we will need a team of people to stay behind and prepare boxed lunches for everyone who is out serving at one of the other projects. If you are unable to do the jobs included in the house projects, this would be perfect for you!



Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.

Beginning at 9:00am, a team will be going to help Pregnancy Solutions, who we support through our Missions. You will be doing yard work, such as cleaning off the flower beds, picking up trash, and possibly cutting grass.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.


Beginning at 9:00am, we will be assisting the Salvation Army in Barberton. The Salvation Army provides year-round programs to help low-income communities thrive. We will help them by deep cleaning their kitchen, and possibly be doing some inside painting.

Boxed lunches will be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm at the church, then from 1:30pm-2:30pm we will have a Reflection Service in the Worship Center.
